The Eatery at the Talbot is so named because it offers a comprehensive, but not overwhelming, menu available not only in the main garden restaurant or in the bar or School Room but also alfresco in the courtyard or garden. For larger groups we also have a 14 seater Oak Table with its own discrete area. The restaurant has one AA Rosette for an experience “that stands out in its local area”. The main menu is reviewed regularly by head Chef Aaron who sources ingredients locally but also travels further afield to obtain what he wants. For breakfast aficionados try Aaron’s breakfast selection – the smoked salmon and scrambled egg is simply to die for. For those private gatherings and white linen service think about our panelled Whitwell Room, so named after an early proprietor of the Talbot who reputedly acquired part of the ruins of Fotheringhay castle to rebuild the hotel in 1626.
Opening Times –
10:00 to 21:00 (Weekends 10:00 to 21:30) – Breakfast 7:00 to 9:30 (Weekends 8:00 to 10:30)
Our sandwich menu is served 12:00 to 14:30
The Talbot has retained many of the historical features of an English coaching inn – a characteristic pub environment with hand pulled beers and ales. Two working fireplaces make for a warm and cosy environment during those colder months.
Opening Times – 12:00 to 23:00 (Weekends 12:00 to 00:00).
