The Talbot Hotel is a unique hotel with a history traceable back to the 17th century. It provides a great atmospheric alternative to modern hotels for meetings, seminars, events, and private functions. The hotel is conveniently located in the beautiful town of Oundle and lies within easy access of major road networks.
We have a variety of menus which use ingredients chosen and sourced by our head chef. These can also be tailored to your requirements. The best cuisine deserves the best service and we pride ourselves on providing a confident, yet discreet approach to catering and we promise to look after your guests by paying the utmost attention to detail.
You will be able to discuss all of your requirements and details with your dedicated event manager, who will guide you through the most suitable options for your chosen occasion.
We understand that not all events are happy ones and when it comes to saying goodbye to a loved one we offer a discreet, sympathetic and supportive approach for you, your family and friends in the arranging of a funeral tea.
Our Function Rooms
The Whitwell Suite
Located on the first floor in the main part of the hotel, the Whitwell Suite is accessed by the timber staircase procured by Thomas Whitwell in 1630 and which Mary Queen of Scots reputedly descended to her execution at Fotheringhay Castle. The room retains original features including its 16th and 17th century oak panelling and stone fireplaces.
The Westgate Suite
This historic and stunning reception suite can accommodate 120 guests and is located over two floors; the ground floor provides a private bar, sitting area and facilities and has doors leading out onto our secret hotel garden. Meanwhile, the first floor offers stunning beams, an original fireplace and a modern dance floor. For that extra WOW feature the high beams can be lit up with hundreds of white twinkling lights which help to add a magical setting for Weddings, Christenings, dinner dances, private parties, Birthday celebrations, proms, awards and presentation ceremonies.
The Drumming Well Room
Located on the ground floor with easy access from the hotel car-park, the Drummingwell room is ideal for board meetings, small seminars, and private dining.
Nestled away next to reception, our Snug Room is ideal for any informal occasion. Afternoon tea and small, intimate weddings can also be held here. The rooms unique qualities make it one of the key features that characterises the Talbot Hotel.
The Oak Table
Although not a private room and located in the main hotel Eatery, the Oak Table is a very popular setting for both formal and informal gatherings and mealtimes. It is set next to our magnificent fireplace and special dining and drinks packages are available providing a great alternative to private dining.
The Courtyard & Secret Garden
One of the most iconic pictures of the hotel is that of the central courtyard. This resembles a streetscape of a central walkway flanked by terraced cottages on the south side and a Georgian building (fronted by a glass house) opposite. The streetscape is enhanced by the cottage garden planting at the western end with lounge and seating areas located either side of the walkway. The latter is directly serviced from the Coffee House and Bar and is a sun trapped area. Between the Westgate Suite and the main Eatery is the hotel\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\'s Secret Garden which is surrounded by stone buildings and wall thereby providing a sun trapped and secluded area for guests requiring seclusion with easy access to the Eatery and Coffee House.
